cropped jacket/ scalloped top/  ankle pants (my faves!)

I work at a university and often get told that I look like a student which isn’t a horrible thing but can work against me when I am doing everything in your power to look and be professional.  One of my go-to pieces when I have an important meeting or a presentation is a jacket/blazer.  I found this one at Kohl’s and am in LOVE with it! It is professional but also so fun with these gorgeous sleeves.  With a new promotion, I am looking to buy more professional but fun jackets and blazers. Where do you find your favorites?

Let me know in the comments!

feminine edge at graffiti alley

unnamed-1unnamed-2unnamed-3faux leather jacket (similar)/ peplum top (similar)/ gray distressed jeans / lace up flats

When a few girl friends and I decided to take a field trip to Graffiti Alley for a photo shoot, the first thing that came to my mind was “how am I going to look edgy?!” I didn’t want to show up to a graffiti wall wearing frilly clothes. I just felt like it wouldn’t mix.  I would describe my style as feminine and classic with a mix of the newest trends. I love to try out new styles but this one was out of my comfort zone.  So what did I do? I pulled out my faux leather jacket from TJ Maxx out of my closet…and of course it’s blush.  This is when I realized that I love feminine and edgy together and I want to continue working on this look.  The blush and light neutral tones is where the feminine comes in but the distressed denim, the faux leather of the jacket and black and white striped top give this look the touch of edge that I was hoping for.    Because I fell in love with this look, I began the hunt for feminine pieces with an edge. While looking for this style, I seemed to go for dark pieces with a feminine detail like lace, floral print, or ruffles!  You can shop some of my finds below!

I am a huge fan of embroidered pieces and I am so happy to see this trend back on the rise!  I used to have a pair of embroidered jeans from American Eagle in high school and they were my absolute favorite (ugh, why didn’t I save them).   I love that this look can be worn so many different ways – feminine and dainty, fierce and chic, and eclectic and colorful!   Below you can shop some of my favorite embroidered pieces that I have found so far this season!

TJ Maxx Turtleneck (shop similar below)/ LC Lauren Conrad jeggings/  Taupe Booties

I absolutely love anything girly or frilly and sometimes I feel like I am dressing like a five year old (but seriously–why can’t some of that stuff be in my size? lol).  In my trials and tribulations with fashion, I have found that feminine and dainty pieces don’t have to be juvenile- they can actually be very sophisticated.   When I saw this ruffled turtleneck at TJ Maxx, it immediately struck me as one of those pieces- soft and sophisitcated.  The ruffle  details around the neck and wrist are subtle but stunning. Unfortunately, I cannot link the direct top to you but I have found some beautiful options for you to check out below.

Today we had a crazy weather day and it got up to 65 degrees in Maryland. I was not hating it! I rocked this look to go out to dinner for my mom’s birthday. Bell sleeves, jeans, lace up flats and NO JACKET….seems like a great combination to me!!!  Later on this week, I’ll show you how I styled this amazing shirt from shein.com for work.  I just love bell sleeves.
