With the temperatures in the 70’s in FEBRUARY, I have major spring fever! I am probably in for some disappointment since the weather most likely will not stay like this through March (ya never know though!)  I don’t know about you but nice weather makes me want to go on a major shopping spree.  The 6  items listed above are all less than $50!

I hope you enjoy these picks for spring! Happy shopping!

Top : Tj Maxx/ Jeans: Old Navy/ Wedges: TJ Maxx (similar)/ Earrings- Francesca’s (similar)

I have a feeling that my go-to outfit this spring will consist of an off the shoulder top, white jeans, wedges, and some bright statement jewelry!  This top is available at TJ Maxx on-line and in stores and I love how lightweight and flowy it is yet it still gives some coverage for those chilly spring nights.  I am on the hunt for some new white jeans- as you may be able to tell- these are a little big on me since last year (woo hoo)! I tried a few on at the mall the other day but sometimes white and tight can be so unforgiving.  If anyone has a favorite pair of white jeans and can share that wealth of knowledge- please let me know! The hunt begins!

Thanks for stopping by!

denim jacket season

Striped top (similar) / Skinny ankle pants (my fave!!)/ Denim Jacket (old- similar linked below)

Today felt like spring with a high of 60 degrees, and I could not be more excited!  One of my favorite layering pieces of spring and summer is a denim jacket.  At work,  I am not able to wear jeans which can make transitioning from work to happy hour or dinner out a little challenging.  Today, I paired my denim jacket wit my dress pants and work top to dress down my office look and voila I was ready for a casual dinner on the patio!  Below are some of my favorite denim jackets that are out this spring!

Rent the Runway’s #1 fan

If you’re in your mid to late twenties, you probably know the feeling of having SO many weddings per year and nothing to wear!  Last year we hit a record high, and I didn’t want to outfit repeat.  Luckily, Rent the Runway came to the rescue and I haven’t looked back.  This year, we have even more weddings to attend this summer and I am already stalking the dress inventory that is available so far.  Pictured above, you can see three different looks from three different occasions last year. I was obsessed with every single one.  The dress I posted on my Instagram is also from rent the runway, but the photo won’t upload for some reason- sad. Below are some of the reasons I absolutely love Rent the Runway!

It allows you to wear statement pieces that won’t hang in your closet after one time wear.
The beauty about renting is that you are probably only going to wear the item once, so I always like to pick a statement piece.  As you can see above, I have gone for bold patterns, different necklines, cut outs, etc. for fun twists on wedding guest attire.  While I love a good simple and classic look, I try to find something unique when I am renting.

For $30 a year, you don’t have to pay for shipping or insurance
If you are going to rent at least twice a year, it is 100% worth it to become a pro member.  To sign up to become a pro member, it’s $30 a year which covers shipping and insurance. To rent one time, shipping and insurance is $30. THIS IS A NO BRAINER.  You also get $50 on your birthday to use any time and who doesn’t love a good birthday outfit?

The customer service is on point!
Whenever I go on my rant about how much I love to rent the runway, I always get the question, “what if it doesn’t fit?”.   First of all, you get to pick two sizes which is amazing! Their website is also so awesome because real people upload photos of themselves in the clothing to give a real idea of what it looks like on different body types.  Also- follow them on snap chat and you can request try on’s for different pieces!   I have never had a dress not fit but one of my girlfriends had a bad experience with a fit of a dress and RTR overnighted her a new dress–how amazing is that! (tip: always rent 2 days before your event so that if you receive a damaged product or it doesn’t fit, RTR has time to send you a new piece!)

Designers galore!
There are so many options to choose from on RTR from a plethora of designers.  These clothing items are NOT cheap but you are able to rent them for an affordable price. The selection of dresses is versatile but make sure you plan ahead! You can rent up to 4 months in advance so especially during peak wedding season, looks can sell out FAST.  I would recommend renting as far ahead as you can and always search with the dates of your event.  The search engine will only populate what’s available for those days if you put it in there. If you don’t, you might be in for a heart break when you go to order and it’s not available.

So with all that being said, if you have a ton of weddings, bachelorette parties, galas, conferences, etc. coming up- you should definitely check out rent the runway at renttherunway.com and get a discount by using my link here.

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO,

Carly

pencil skirt (stitch fix) / blazer (similar style different color) / ruffle top- sold out / lace up flats

It’s been about a month since I’ve started blogging and it’s been kind of stressful!  Not just the photo poses or finding new content but really the biggest question is how in the heck am  I going to afford all of these clothes??? I feel a lot of pressure when reading other fashion blogger’s posts.  I feel like they are always featuring a new piece and linking the direct item for others to buy! I work in education and there is no way I can live that lifestyle even though I would LOVE to.  With that being said, I turned to pinterest for some closet inspiration.  I pulled together this outfit today with pieces that I’ve had in my closet for 6 months or more. Unfortunately that means I can’t link the exact item for y’all to buy, but I hope it provides some inspiration.  All it takes is a new combination for pieces in your wardrobe to come alive again.  Instead of reaching for your credit card to purchase that new sweater or new coat, I challenge you to go through what you already have and see if you can recreate the look you want with some flexibility.  My go-to inspiration site is pinterest. I love it because I can type in exactly the pieces I have to work with and so many inspiration photos come up! I’d really recommend it if you are in a closet slump, take a few pieces from your wardrobe and type them in the search on pinterest.  It can work wonders for a closet rejuvenation!

Happy pinning!

Carly

staple sweater

unnamed-5unnamed-8unnamed-6unnamed-7

sweater (old) (similar for under $6!)/plaid shirt (similar)/ navy pants (on sale for $19!!)

I probably pull this beige sweater out of my closet at least once a week.  It’s so versatile! I love pairing it with plaid or chambray shirts underneath or with blanket scarves over top.   Sometimes I tend to gravitate toward more trendy pieces with a lot of fun details. The only problem with those pieces is that they are noticeable and there are only so many ways to wear them.  I have decided that I need to start buying more basic and classic pieces that I can wear in multiple ways.  This sweater has inspired me to embrace the basic (pumpkin spice latte included).  I rounded up basic sweaters that are perfect for layering and they are all at a great price!
