Just got back from an amazing but too short weekend getaway in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. This is one of my favorite places to visit. You can’t beat the beautiful blue water and the variety of things to do! My sister lives in St. Pete so it’s nice having a local guide to this amazing place. My husband has also been attending Yankees spring training games here for over 10 years so it works out that we make this trip at least every spring. Below I am sharing some of my favorite places to stay, eat, drink and also sharing some of my favorite things to do while visiting!
Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites – This place is wonderful if you are staying for more than a few days. It has a great kitchen and it’s very spacious. There are beautiful views from the balcony and some really fabulous amenities such as a pool, hot tub, and beach bar. It makes sense why it has the word sunset in the name since we witnessed the most gorgeous sunset on our stay from our balcony!
Cappy’s Pizzeria – All i can say is YUM!! This place is family style and the pizza is phenomenal! You can pick from NY or Chicago style and as many toppings as you choose. They also had an amazing Greek salad that I am still dreaming about! Not only was the food super yummy, it had a great atmosphere. There was a cute deck with string lights (you know I’m a sucker for those) and they had a great selection of beer.
Pipo’s Cuban Cafe: Check this place out if you want some authentic cuban food that won’t break the bank!
The Canopy : Located in the stunning Birchwood Inn, The Canopy is an amazing rooftop bar with breathtaking views and and sophisticated views. If you’re going for a special occasion, you may want to look into renting a private cabana!
Madeira Beach Snack Shack : I love any place where I can sit in my bathing suit and cover up, overlook the ocean and sip on a pina-colada. There is usually some live music playing as well which makes it even better! Make sure you keep your cup too because you get a discount at the bar if you reuse your cup!
Mural tour- If you’re into photography or just want to channel your inner artsy side, check out the murals in downtown St. Petersburg. They are all over and you can check out some really great restaurants and coffee shops along the way!
Baseball- There are so many spring training baseball facilities in the area and it’s always a really fun environment to catch a game! The Yankees are located in Tampa, the Orioles are in Sarasota, the Blue Jays are in Dunedin and the Phillies are in Clearwater. Even if you don’t make it down during the spring, these parks turn into some minor league ball which means cheap and laid back!
John’s Pass – If you’re in the mood for some shopping, check out John’s Pass. There are a lot of cute boutiques and specialty shops!
Beach – I am definitely a beach bum so I am completely content with spending my days on the beach! There are so many great beach towns within 20-30 minutes of each other! Madeira Beach, St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Pass- A- Grille! All of them have something unique and different to offer but they all have the same beautiful sunsets and clear blue water!
I really can’t wait to come back to the Tampa Bay area and do some more exploring! Let me know if you have any suggestions for next time I visit in the comments below!
Thanks for stopping by!
